after performing for 4 and a half years as an all bass trio and releasing 3 critically acclaimed albums on Jon Tye's Lo Recordings label, and a contribution to the Bella Union label's '7 Series' set of releases, the group disbanded, with original founder member Mark Beazley carrying on the Rothko name. December 2001 saw Mark sign to Too Pure Records, though his parting release with Lo was the 12" collaboration single 'Waters Edge' with Japanese ambient master Susumu Yokota, which was released in April 2002. the first Rothko release on Too Pure was the 7" single 'Red Cells' in May, shortly followed by the release of the album 'A Continual Search For Origins' in June 2002. The album features the musicians from the group Delicate Awol, adding drums, vocals, guitars, flute, trumpet, keyboards and percussion to the tracks. there will hopefully be a UK tour featuring the full 7 piece line-up in September 2002, though there may be other shows with various different line-ups, as the group has played using 5 different line-ups in the last 6 months
